In December 2008, Marnita's Table published its 2008 Annual Report.
The October-November 2008 issue of MARQ Magazine (published by the Star Tribune), which takes "Harmony" as its central theme, has a fabulous feature about Marnita's Table. On June 5, Marnita's Table became a top runner-up for the Social Entrepreneur's Cup, a competition to name the Twin Cities' outstanding social entrepreneurs sponsored by Social Venture Partners and other leading philanthropic organizations. We joined the other four finalists in making short presentations to judges and a high profile audience of engaged philanthropists, socially responsible business owners and executives, and others working in the non-profit sector. The experience proved invaluable in getting the word out about our work and establishing relationships with leaders of the philanthropic community that will undoubtedly proved invaluable in the near future. The Nov-Dec 2007 issue of The Utne Reader has a four-page feature article on Marnita's Table, including A Feast of Ideas, and Dish It Up.
The minister's sermon at Unity Unitarian Church in St. Paul on Oct. 28, 2007, iincluded a long discourse on Marnita's Table as an antidote to "the sins of privilege." Listen to the podcast here. (Be patient -- it may take a minute or so to load.)
