In March, we hosted four Community Advisory planning sessions to gain input from a wide group of community members on what they would want out of participating in a community advisory board. Now we are taking what was shared with us and bringing everyone back together to review and decide on bylaws and a charter. During this time participants will get to know others on their board better. You are receiving this personal invitation because you joined at least one of these sessions and shared you would be interested in participating in one or more of the boards.

Interested in taking part of one of these boards but can’t make the May 4th date?

We will be publishing all the information at https://marnitastable.org/bcbsmn/ including the dates and times to join the next breakout group session following the conversation.

Reach out with any questions by emailing sammie@marnitastable.org or leave a voicemail at 612.928.7744.

Thanks for your consideration! We look forward to welcoming you to the Table!

What to Expect?

In this meeting we are bringing everyone back together to review the highlights of what was shared and decide how to organize each group and when those groups will meet online next.

In the following breakout meetings groups will review and agree on bylaws, a charter and to get to know each other better as they begin the actual advisory role! Since participants live all across Minnesota and are both English and Spanish speakers you will also collectively decide how to best work across difference together moving forward.

What are the intentions behind the different boards and who would be a good fit?

Community Advisory Leadership Board

Candidates may include seasoned or credentialed professionals and community leaders from across Minnesota. This group will serve as a pathway between the community and the BCBSMN Board.  The purpose of this board is to advise leadership on concerns of immediate importance. An additional goal is connecting BCBSMN leadership to thought leaders across race, class, and culture to support leadership in building the cross-cultural competency required to achieve equity in health access and health outcomes.

Community Advisory Group

Community members will be called upon to advise BCBSMN on a particular topic of interest to them and may include subgroups that are region oriented. The group will focus on decreasing behavioral and mental health stigma and improving cultural competency in care navigation. Additionally, BCBSMN will work with the Community Advisory Group to identify areas to focus on based on community interest and needs, ensuring representation from all MN regions and BIPOC communities and to helping BCBSMN ideate and envision new solutions and innovations toward health equity.

Member Advisory Group

Candidates will include BCBSMN members or advocates of BCBSMN members.  The recommended focus area will be to report on BCBSMN member/customer specific experiences, needs and desires.  Member Advisory Group goals will be to improve member engagement, receive direct feedback from BCBSMN members, receive care that is responsive to member specific needs. This will be an opportunity for members and member advocates to share Blue Cross experiences.

About Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota
